How to clean your atelier mira eyewear

Wondering How to Clean Your Eyewear?  Here are Easy Steps

BEFORE YOU PROCEED – Much like your skin, your eyewear is constantly under environmental assaults, and just like your face, a proper wash routine is needed. Some materials and paint coatings are more sensitive than others. Age and quality of your glasses are also important factors to the maturing of the material.

The listed method is best for metal, acetate or acrylic frames, but ALWAYS test a portion of the frame first, such as the temple, closest to the ear, to ensure that the paint or acetate will not be damaged.

Things you need: a faucet, dish soap or detergent, a lens polishing cloth or a microfiber cloth.

START - with a drop or two of the soap (best used with non-lotion options) on your fingers and some room temperature water.  Start working up a lather beginning with one of the temple areas of your frame. Including your lenses.

CHECK - to see that the finish/paint is looking okay - some finishes are more delicate than others.

RUB – Focus on the areas that make contact with your skin, the temples, the bridge/nose pads, and parts that may sit on your cheeks.   Be as thorough as you are when you wash your hands (20 seconds).

PAT DRY AND POLISH – gently dry your frame with a cloth and your lenses with a clean, soft, lens cleaning cloth.  (Avoid paper towel. Even the softest type can scratch your lenses.)

KEEP IN MIND - Always use room temperature to cool water – Hot water and/or Heat WILL cause damage. Some soap have a drying effect so use mild soap without lotions. You can use this method few times a week.

Now, how to maintain your wood glasses:

Wipe any loose dirt and dust using a microfiber or lint free cloth.

Mix a small amount of wood cleaner or wood-specific surfactant with cold water.

As we all know, wood should always be cleaned with products specifically made for wood. DO NOT USE DISH SOAP ON WOOD.

Dip your cloth in mixture and wring out any excess water.

Use the damp cloth to wipe all surfaces of the glasses clean, including the lens.

Use a dry towel and wipe clean then let air dry for an hour.

Once dry, you can choose to add beeswax, natural lip-balm or walnut oil, lightly brushing the wood with a clean microfiber or lint free cloth.

Feel free to shoot us an email if you have any specific questions.

Until we can offer an upgraded “Spa Day” to your precious glasses, take a good care of yourself, your face and your eyes . Stay safe, everyone.
